SAGES CENTRAL

While SAGES classes are taught across campus, the program is based in SAGES Central, which takes up the entire quad level of Crawford Hall and is, on a good day, a hub of social and intellectual activity.

As you enter Crawford, you’ll see the SAGES Café, which serves Peet’s Coffees and Teas, lattes, soy drinks, and a menu that’s vegetarian and vegan friendly, and includes pizzas, sandwiches, salads and desserts. You can find out more by following the SAGES Café on Twitter and Facebook.

The SAGES Café and SAGES Office are set up to be suitable for individuals and small study groups. There are a couple of computers for public use and, of course, wi-fi access and plenty of places to plug in your own devices. The Café is also one of the homes of the Writing Resource Center. It should be quieter than a lot of the gathering places on campus, but be a better place to have a discussion than one of the libraries.

If you bear right from the Café, you’ll get to the SAGES Fellows’ Office Area, an open plan space where students have one-to-one meetings with the SAGES Fellows who teach courses. Fellows have pigeonholes here where essays and correspondence can be dropped off. Please come to the SAGES facilities whenever you like, but your professor won’t always be there – please contact them in advance to check what their office hours are, and to confirm where you’ll be meeting.

If you bear left as you come into Crawford, you’ll get to Crawford 111, the SAGES Seminar Room, a Level 2 Technology Enhanced Classroom, which is home to seminars, colloquia, and other events all through the week. It seats about 20 people comfortably. SAGES events and classes have first priority for use of the space, but the room may be reserved for other university events. If you would like to reserve the SAGES Seminar Room, please email us to inquire about availability.

If you keep going in either direction, you’ll work your way around to the Crawford 110 offices, where the SAGES administration is based. Here we’ll be glad to answer any questions.

Everyone on campus is welcome to come to the SAGES facilities, and to hang out at the SAGES Café, but please show consideration for people working nearby, and bear in mind there are occasions when SAGES business will take priority and you may be asked to move.
