John Flores – Winner of the 2015 Richard A. Bloom Award

John Flores has received the 2015 Richard A. Bloom, M.D., Excellence in SAGES Teaching Award. Dr. JohnFlores1_croppedandshrunkenFlores is from the Department of History where he holds the position of Climo Junior Professor of the College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Flores was nominated by students in his University Seminar A History of Workers in the US. Students praised his “respectful, focused, and encouraging” demeanor, as well as his ability to give feedback “with explanation and emphasis on improvement” to push students to become better writers. The award was established in 2008 to honor distinguished teaching in the SAGES program at Case Western Reserve University. Candidates for this teaching award are nominated by their SAGES students. The award is presented annually through an endowment created by Dr. Bloom, who earned both his bachelor’s and his medical degrees from Case Western Reserve University.
