Recognizing excellence in teaching: Ageh Bedell earns Richard A. Bloom, M.D. Award

In 2008, the Richard A. Bloom, M.D. Award was established to honor distinguished teaching in the SAGES program, part of Case Western Reserve’s current core undergraduate curriculum. Each year, students are invited to nominate their instructors who go above and beyond both in and out of the classroom. The winner is recognized during the commencement ceremony, where they receive a $2,000 prize.

The 2025 recipient is Ageh Bedell. She was nominated by four students who offered high praise for her teaching and support. They wrote:

“She was kind, patient, and cared about all her students.”

“I am endlessly grateful for her support as a teacher, mentor, and role model.”
“I have never experienced another seminar leader or professor at the university who cares more intensely about their students and intentionally designs the course for the benefit of students.”
“Not only was the class content unique and engaging, the spirit in which she taught the class illustrated her knowledge and passion for the subject.”
